Project description
We are proud to generate wind energy in the municipalities of Gesves and Ohey, Belgium. The wind plant, known as "Les Géantes du Samson" includes six Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with a nominal power of 3.2 MW.
Citizen participation
The project emphasizes citizen participation, with local financial involvement encouraged from an early stage. "Electrons Libres," an association supporting the use of renewable energies, collaborated with two cooperatives, "Energie 2030" and "Clean Power Europe." Together, they purchased one of the six wind turbines.
Educating present and future generations
Five schools from the municipalities of Gesves, Ohey and Assesse designed six didactic panels about the project and wind energy. The exhibit was inaugurated during the spring of 2019 by students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
