A photovoltaic power plant project is currently under study in Méricourt and Billy-Montigny, located in the Pas-de-Calais region in France.
Situated to the west of Billy-Montigny (near the Rescapés trail) and on two sites in Méricourt (along the railway and between Sikorski and Sorriaux streets), the project location has been carefully selected.
A Second Life for a Site Rich in History
The site in question is a former mining brownfield, once used as a marshalling yard for coal and coke from Drocourt. Abandoned since the end of these activities, the land has remained unused. The project aims to revitalize this site—marked by fossil fuel exploitation—by dedicating it to renewable energy production.
A Project Designed With and For the Region
A four-season environmental study was conducted to identify the site’s ecological issues. Based on this study, the project’s design was developed in close collaboration with local stakeholders, taking into account environmental and landscape constraints.
Particular attention was paid to the project’s scale in order to address stakeholder feedback, especially regarding landscape integration: adapting to the terrain, structure height, choice of materials, and more.
With an installed capacity of approximately 9.5 MWp, the power plant will generate the equivalent of the average electricity consumption of 2,600 households.
