Project description
The 4.8 MWp ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant is located to the north of the commune of Surgères, in the Charente-Maritime department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The project is located on agricultural land, close to industrial estates, the railroad line and the RD 115. The project covers an area of around 4.8 hectares, owned by the Aunis Sud community of communes.
The project was made possible by the commune's planned development of activities in this zone. The presence of existing industrial activities close to the site, together with the absence of any prohibitive technical, landscape or environmental constraints, made it a particularly suitable location for a solar power plant. Existing hedges along the RD 115 were reinforced to ensure a good integration of the project within the surrounding landscape. To preserve the subsoil and any remains on part of the site, the photovoltaic panels were installed on concrete blocks.
The photovoltaic park covers the annual energy consumption of around 1,276 households. The project's objectives are thus in line with the guidelines set out in supra-communal documents, notably the SCoT du Pays D'Aunis, which aims to limit greenhouse gas emissions through the use of renewable energies.
